2020 Scholarship Recipients

Dyersville, IA

Abby Klosterman

Klostermann is a 2020 graduate from Beckman High School, who resides on her family dairy farm outside Dyersville, Iowa. Throughout high school, Abby was active in many activities such as 4-H, FFA, Delaware County Dairy Princess, NHS, speech, student ambassadors, drama, soccer, art club, math club, science club, and choir. Abby was awarded the Top of the Class Scholarship, maintaining a 4.3 GPA! In addition to excelling in schoolwork and working on the farm, Abby is also a steward to her community by volunteering at the local tractor pull, Labor Day Picnic, parish breakfast, and visiting with the elderly. Klostermann plans to use her background in agriculture and attend Iowa State to become an architect to learn how to make sustainable, environmentally better buildings to house our animals, and increase productivity in agriculture.

La Crescent, MN

Alaina Johnson

Alaina Johnson is a 2020 graduate from La Crescent, Hokah High School, where she ranked in the top 20 of her class. Alaina grew up on her family dairy farm in La Crescent, Minnesota. Johnson is the secretary of La Cresent’s FCCLA club and President of the newly started 4-H Club. Also, Alaina is active in FCA, where she shares her beliefs with other students that are involved with sports and participate in weekly bible discussions. Johnson is also active in FFA, Nation Honors Society, and softball. In her free time, Johnson enjoys volunteering at the Veterans Dinner, Neighbors Day, and Roadside clean-up events. Johnson grew up in the dairy industry and has held the following titles: Little Miss Squirt, Jersey Parish Queen, Houston County Fair Princess, Miss Wisconsin Agriculture, and Minnesota Jersey Queen. Johnson has been accepted to the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, and aspires to be a veterinarian for large animals and run her own practice. 

Menomonie, WI

Ben Styer

Ben Styer is a 2020 graduate from Menomonie high school, who maintained a 4.0 GPA. Styer grew up on his family’s dairy farm of 2,200 cows in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Ben is involved in many activities, such as 4-H, FFA, Wisconsin Junior Holstein Association, Wisconsin Junior State Fair Exhibitor, Dunn County Dairy Breakfast, Forensics public speaking, Menomonie String Orchestra, Saint Henry’s Catholic Church server, choice member, & substitute CCD teacher, National Honor Society, Menomonie High School Link Crew, Menomonie High School Link Crew, National Swine Registry, American Berkshire Association, Dunn County Meat Animal Project, and Science Olympiad. Styers plans to attend the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities and double major in Animal Science (with a dairy emphasis) and Agricultural and Food Business Management.

Cashton, WI

Brianna Waken 

Brianna Waken is a 2020 Graduate from Cashton High School in Cashton Wisconsin. Waken resides on her family’s 400 cow dairy farm in Cashton, where she feeds calves before school and on weekends, among many other tasks. Brianna has demonstrated outstanding leadership during her involvement with FFA, Jolly Joiners 4-H (treasurer), Monroe County Jr. Diary Club (2016 president), National Honors Society, Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots, SOAR, Students Against Destructive Decisions, basketball, and softball (team Capitan). Brianna plans to attend the University of Wisconsin Madison and major in Dairy Science and may minor in Spanish. Waken noted that a “goal of mine is to make a difference in the lives of the farmers that I work with.”

Viroqua, WI

Max Dach 

Max Dach is a Junior at the University of Wisconsin, Platteville with an anticipated graduation date of May of 2021 with a degree in Animal Science and an Emphasis in Livestock and Meat Science. After completing his undergraduate, Dach intends to attend Graduate School for an MBA in Ruminant Nutrition. Dach grew up on his family’s 240-acre farm where they milked 40 head of dairy cattle until he was 10 years old, at which time they sold the cows. Today, he and his family raise 50 head of beef cattle. Dach is a part of Alpha Zeta an academic honors fraternity and works for the Pioneer Farm: Dairy Enterprise. He also is starting undergraduate research to bolster his resume for Graduate School. Max is a member of the Viroqua FFA Alumni and Vernon County Cattlemen’s Association, and the Viroqua Wrestling Club. Dach enjoys volunteering his time to the Viroqua High School Wrestling program as a volunteer coach.
